Job Summary

The Jacksonville University Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences’ Comprehensive Oral Implantology Program seeks candidates for an Adjunct Position. The successful candidate will join a diverse group of faculty, clinical directors, residents, and staff in their mission to achieve excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service. 

Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Duties/Responsibilities

Lecture courses are usually taught in the evenings at 8 PM ET and are fully online. Adjunct faculty members must perform all duties associated with teaching courses at the graduate level. These duties include: 

  • Course development
  • Creating a syllabus that includes course objectives, assignments, assessments, and rubrics.
  • Providing lectures to fulfill the course objectives.
  • ​Leading class discussions
  • ​Grading assessments and providing final student assessments.
  • ​Providing prompt responses to student questions​.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Socket grafting, guided bone regeneration, and maxillary sinus augmentation
  • Overview of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures
  • The mandible, maxilla and bone physiology/repair
  • Overview of implants, their concepts, techniques and maintenanceSoft tissue management
  • Fixed and removable prosthodontics in implant dentistry
  • Periodontal aspects of implant dentistry and peri-implantitis prevention and treatment
  • Advanced dental implant procedures including zygomatic and pterygoid implants
  • Management of implant-related complications
  • Overview of head, neck and plastic surgery surgical procedures
  • Laser surgery and treatments
  • Computer-assisted surgery
  • Utilization of artificial intelligence in medicine/dentistry
  • Management of medically compromised patients
  • Pharmacological considerations for implant dentistry
  • Conscious sedation of the implant patient

Education, Certificates, Licenses, & Experience

  • Candidate must possess a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)​

Physical Requirements

  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines.
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone.​
